CENTRAL COMMAND AND NALANDA UNIVERSITY HOLD SEMINAR ON HIMALAYAN BORDERS AND NEIGHBOUR RELATIONS

Central Command of the Indian Army, in collaboration with Nalanda University, hosted a two-day seminar titled “The Himalayan Borders: India’s Relationships with its Neighbours” on March 24 and 25, 2025. The event, held at the picturesque campus of Nalanda University, brought together a distinguished array of speakers, military leaders, and esteemed scholars to explore the complexities and nuances of India’s geopolitical landscape in the Himalayan region.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Professor Abhay Kumar Singh, Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, who emphasized the significance of fostering education and dialogue in enhancing national security. The keynote address was delivered by Lt Gen Shekhawat, GOC, Madhya Bharat Area, that set the stage for meaningful discussions on the strategic implications of India’s relationships with its neighbours.
Over two days, a series of insightful talks and discussions were led by subject matter experts from both military and academic fields. The platform facilitated a collaborative environment aimed at achieving synergy between military strategies and academic insights thereby addressing multifaceted challenges faced along the Himalayan borders.
In his closing remarks, Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command, underscored the crucial role of the Indian Army in ensuring the safety and integrity of the nation’s borders. He articulated the necessity of understanding historical contexts and their evolution to navigate the contemporary geopolitical dynamics affecting India.
The seminar also featured presence of distinguished military and civil dignitaries including the Chief Secretary of Bihar, GOCs Uttar Bharat, Madhya Bharat Areas, Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area, ADG Bihar Police, IG SSB and the faculty & students of universities including foreign students, further enriching the discussions.
